Site Description
Mount Diablo is located within Mount Diablo State Park and part of the mountain of the Diablo Range, in Contra Costa County of the eastern San Francisco Bay Area in Northern California. The mountain is visible from most of the San Francisco Bay Area and a popular XC site in the bat area many local XC records have been broken from this flying site. The site has a variety of potential flying experiences for the more advanced pilot with good judgment and skill.
The National Weather Service maintains a weather station at Mount Diablo Junction, 2,170 feet (661 m) above sea level.
Note: Be sure to visit the site guide from Wings of Rogallo and get an intro before flying. Pilots must be familiar with site rules and meet all requirements before attempting to fly Mt. Diablo.
Site Requirements
- Member of USHPA
- Full or visiting member of the Wings of Rogallo Northern California Hang Gliding Association Inc.
- Have an Advanced rating (P4/H4)
- Sign the Mt. Diablo Waiver Sign in at the ranger station
- Receive a site intro from an experienced pilot who has previously flown at Mt. Diablo
